「別の対象に人格が変化する。」
これは仮面の持つ様々な意味の中にある１つである。
中世ヨーロッパの仮面舞踏会で身につけられる仮面は「顔を隠す」という意味合いが強い。仮面の背後にはそれを身につけた人間がいる。
その人物の表情を観賞者は見ることができないが、観賞者は仮面に一方的に見られているという感覚を受ける。
絵文字・アバター・化粧など、仮面に置き換わるものは今現在多く存在している。仮面の裏の人物はどのような顔や表情をしているのか誰にもわからない。
わかるのはその仮面をつけている本人だけである。見つめ返すか、畏怖の念を抱くか、対話をするか。
当作品では鑑賞者に仮面を通じてのコミュニケーションを考える機会になればと考えている。
"A change of personality to another person." This is one of the many meanings of masks.
The masks worn at masked balls in medieval Europe had a strong meaning of "hiding the face.
Behind the mask is the person who wears it.
Although the spectator cannot see the expression of the person wearing the mask, he or she feels that the mask is watching him or her.
There are many alternatives to masks today, such as pictograms, avatars, and makeup. No one knows what kind of face or expression the person behind the mask has.
The only person who knows is the person wearing the mask.
In this work, I hope to give viewers an opportunity to think about communication through masks.
